LOOKING FORWARD TO-

Here are a series of animated films I am most definitely going to be looking forward to:

First up, Surf's up. A new take on animation. This one is going to be documentary orientated. Lovin all the design of the characters and the general feel of 2d-ness they got going. They had the same intention for Open Season, but I think a lot was lost in the story. This looks to be much more entertaining and visualy beautiful.
Unfortunately, we were bombarded with penguins this year, but that doesn't stop this from looking good.

Ratatouille is the newest from Pixar. I admit I was unsure after seeing the teaser, but having Brad Bird at the helm on this one gave me confidence and after seeing some of the designs for the characters I know I'll at least love this movie for the way it looks. BTW Did I mention Brad Bird is awesome?

Who said 2D is dead? Paprika is the latest animation from Japanese Director Satoshi Kon, whose previous films I have not seen. I'm not big on the anime, but I really do love and appreciate the work they put into their productions. If your into animation and haven't seen Akira, Cowboy Beebop, Ghost in a shell, or any Miyazaki films..well then, your not into animation. This looks to be mind numbing and fresh when it comes to animated films these days. PLUS with a synopsis as cool as this, how can you not see this movie?

29 year old Dr. Atsuko Chiba is an attractive but modest Japanese research psychotherapist whose work is on the cutting edge of her field. Her alter-ego is a stunning and fearless 18 year old “dream detective,” code named PAPRIKA, who can enter into people’s dreams and synchronize with their unconscious to help uncover the source of their anxiety or neurosis.

Plus, I have a soft spot for sci-fi stuff. I'm going keep an eye on this one.

IN-PRODUCTION:

Dr. Seuss. You crazy goose. Still inspiring to this day, a take on the classic tale ' Horton hears a Who' is being made by Bluesky studios. Jim Carrey + Steve Carell to be part of the voice cast. Should definitely be interesting. Especially if you look closely at these screenshots. They have a very painted, texturized look to them. If it does infact look like that its going to be a spectacular film. I've never seen 3D animation take on that type of look, almost like guache. We'll wait and see.

An upcoming film from Dreamworks studios. It features an all star cast, with Jack Black doing the voice for the Kung Fu Panda. I don't know much other than the character designs look damn cool, and a panda learning and performing Kung Fu will also be damn cool.

With an illustration like this, and a synopsis like this:( A DreamWorks Animation film based on the horror comicbook "Rex Havoc," about a monster hunter called upon to battle aliens who disrupt cable TV service.) .........This film has to be entertaining and fun. That plus the fact that apparently this 3D animation will actually be entering the 3D realm realtime is super exciting. Although I can't say Im fully satisfied with such a thing happening, it will be without a doubt a very unique experience when it comes to viewing a full animated film.

If your wondering what the heck Im talking about check out this link to a Meet The Robinsons featurette on the new Disney 3D, all the studios will be picking this newly developped technique up now. Dreamworks is one of them.

Well, thats just a little preview of what I've been taking interest in when it comes to the animation world and buzz on the net. I'm planning to drop a ridiculously massive amount of drawings on my blog, since its becoming restless with all this inactivity...But not until next weekend. Maybe by then I'll also be able to get more than 5 hours of sleep a night :s
