Royal Winter Fair

So, I know....Its been a verrrry long time since I last posted. School's in the way, and keeping me constantly busy. I've still been producing my usual amount of art on the side, but not having a scanner is really taking its toll. I haven't done any digital colouring for a lonnng time.
Went to the winter fair with the school as is the usual yearly tradition and got some decent sketching done.
Here's a couple of the good ones.

I'm planning to update my blog format and approach it a bit differently, once its up and running. going to change the title as well. It will be done by december I hope. If not for sure after the break. And by then I'll have a brand spanking new scanner and printer.

Also I have a neat little idea for a side blog, which will feature monthly updates of on a very grand scale of something specific of my choosing. I know...mysterious...... But if I can't even keep one going, I might not do it. stay tuned .

Broken Process

Creating the concept and summing up the dedication to make a comic is super difficult. Over the summer, I had spent alot of time just juggling ideas about. I love most things sci-fi and euro comic sci-fi comics are definetely top notch when it comes to being beautiful and inspiring. I wanted to do something like Keepers of the Maiser, or Skydoll. Just dazzling visuals, combined with fun stories.
The truth is though... Those took years and years. So I decided to come up with just something really short, just to keep me entertained. Didn't end up being sci-fi. But, it is a fun little undevelopped short story. Its one of those personal projects that will most likely fade away, until I find it useful at some point in the future.( or maybe never)

Point is: I didn't want it to go unseen, or just waste away and disapear from my memory.

Ill give a brief outline ( since its super rough )BTW I actually just PS'd over my thumbnails of the layout of the pages. These are the uncluttered by snow, original thumbnails. Sorry about the crappy scan. There is a summation at the bottom just incase it was hard to follow.

Here are the story panels. RIP WIP

TITLE: ASSASIN

Its off in a desserted snowy mountain setting.
The man bursts out from his shack after hearing a howling sound

He gazes out. And finally, barely spots the cause of the noise. He laughs, making it clear that he has spotted the perpetrator. It is a shimmery silouette in the snowstorm. Its just standing there.

He challenges it. Then upon hearing the 'twang' of a bow releasing an arrow...realizes that was a bad idea. He gazes towards his oncoming death.

He falls to the floor ( inside his shack ). Blood following his descent.

We see his look of horror frozen on his face and the arrow jutting out from his skull.

Then from a sequence of the same size and ( birds eye view )angle, in which the 'shack'man's feet can be seen jutting out from the shack:
Assasin walks into shack. Pulls body in. Shadow is seen reaching for the door...And BAM! Slams the door closed

END

* NOTE* Any panels that appeared in red I was going to re-work.

Looong time...

Wow, so it has been quite awhile since I've gotten a chance to post anything. It is largely due to school, and the fact that I don't have a scanner. I've been super busy/tired which is normal, but I tended to post often. The only way to get back into that groove is I need to somehow force myself to get a scanner and a printer. Mooching off friends and the school is getting tiresome. Many props given to the friends however ( thats you Matias )
Anysways, heres a bunch of watercolour sketchings I did before I started my final painting assignment just to get me in the mood as well as play around with the colours a bit beforehand.
The medium is guache, and there were no sketches layed out beforehand. Its just pure brush and paint.

stay realz.

UPDATE!!!

So, here we are yet again. Just a couple of weeks into school and already the homework and stress is kicking in. That's the cruel beauty of being in animation... Yes your doing what you love, but godam it wears you out fast. My point is. Although I do sketch my butt off year round, I'm never sure how often I'll post up on the ol' blog, and what with school factoring in now.....I'll probably have less time for personal work ( not NO time, just LESS ) Therefore, less chances of posting. Either way I'll aim for at least twice a month.

I decided to update my Carbonmade Portfolio. It was kinda dated and I did alot of random drawing over the summer which I didn't get to stick up on the blog ( although some of the stuff on the blog I did stick on carbonmade ) Either way theres a whole bunch of new junk there...

Check it

http://cmac.carbonmade.com/

P.S I know theres a Sheridan Animation Blog up now. Im up there I believe. If you go to Sheridan say Hi to me in the hallways, or introduce yourself. Im always up for meeting new people ( particularly since we got put in the same classes as last year...not complaining though! Class B rules!!!! );P

BATMANNNNN

I just figured this should have its own post. Of all the comicbook heroes Batman is my fav. IN fact for those of you that know me, I carry a fairly big scar on my chin from when I was four years old and enjoyed imitating batman. I jumped from the stairs to a couch in my living room until one day I fell halfway and split my chin open on a flowerpot. Stare at my chin sometime, you'll see it.
I kinda for no reason at all just drew up Batman and some villains during the summer. I guess I was interested in how I would envision them design-wise. I grew up with the old school animated batman and was kinda disapointed after seeing the new age Batman kids are seeing on TV these days. I miss the gritty, hard edged, take no bull**** batman of my youth.

Here's to the good old days

( On a sidenote, The villains are penguin, joker and killer croc. Joker was inspired from the Christopher Nolan design for Heath Ledger whos going to play Joker in the next Batman movie. Scars are so much cooler than a frozen smile. And Clayfaces head is pretty much the same as the oldschool batman cartoon, I just did that because I love the tormented face....didn't even have to use a reference )

Goodbye Summer

Well, summers officially over and I pretty much wasted all of it away doing nothing. I was in Novascotia for the last two months mucking about just relaxing and being bored off my butt. I can honestly say I am super glad to be starting classes and seeing all my buds back at school again.

I of course will probably by week two realize that this year will be yet again a fun filled, sleep deprived, hand numbingly filled one but I'll just stay in denial for now.

Here are some Beach sketches ( super fast 5 -10 seconds WHILE walking in sand ) and some old Dr Sketchy session sketches.
The last one is a WIP.

I have done a ridiculous amount of sketching and drawing over the summer. The good ones Ill stick up on my carbonmade. So check a week from now at the latest. Cheers!

HB 2 n other junk

For those of you that know me, I am a huge Mike Mignola fan, and I can't get enough Hellboy. Director Guillermo Del Toro has started filming on the second film and I've been scavenging about trying to find any images or news of what the movies going to be like. So far everything I've heard has sounded good. But today I found a poster drawn by the man himself, nothing special,a teaser for the upcoming film, but it got me excited. Thats how bored I am, haha.

I've also picked up some comics from the local library to read in my sparetime, which I have a lot of: They are pretty amazing. So anyone into comics who hasn't read these. Def check em out.

WATCHMEN ( spectacular comic. Its about retired super heroes who are being picked off one by one and spirals out into a whole bunch of other amazingness from there. Its old school drawing, but its thick and the writing is AMAZING, Alan Moore. Def worth taking a look at. Heard its being made into a movie. If its done right could be really good.)
LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTELMEN ( The movie was s**t, but comic has badass drawings and the writing, Alan Moore again, is really good )

So, unfortunately no drawings in this post, Laptop is in Halifax for repairs. Hopefully I can get it back soon.

Warriors

Just some character designs for nothing in particular. I have a bunch of art I'll probly stick up on my carbonmade portfolio by the end of the month. My only means of digital interaction, my laptop, decided to wonky so I've got to take it in for repairs in Halifax when I go and pick up my friend who's going to be staying with us up at the cottage. Hopefully they'll fix it up.

More Junk

Well, I'm STILL kicking it back relaxing down here in NovaScotia. I only have internet access with a 30 minute drive down into town, from a local Library. Hopefully my pleading will get through to my parents and they'll get something down at the cottage internet-wise sometime soon. Either way I've been drawing lots of useless junk and enjoying the weather, ocean and pool, but not too much because there are no friends here with which to share that with.

I miss all my buddies in the TDOT and abroad, drop me a line via-email

This was the last character design project before school ended in which something had to have a reaction of suprise/horror/anger combined with a head turn.I made up this Egyptian Snake dude. I liked the character but threw it together ridiculously fast the day before, so it has a ton of screw ups. I revamped it by giving it some shading.woot woot.

This is the last remaining photo of Freddy ' Loco Cojones ' Samba , a ruthless bounty hunter, wanted in 7 Different countries for multiple crimes. He was apparently shot 56 times before he collapsed in front of an unknown convenience store just outside of Mexico. Apparently, the officers on duty believed he had pulled out a semi-automatic pistol, only to later discover it was some super-salty beef jerky. The report was filed but there is no evidence of Samba's body, and the officers at the scene officer Leo Benez, and officer Paco Ricardo later went missing.

In Halifax

Wow, so turns out our Hotel provides dial-up cable. Bonus. My family is camping out at a hotel while some renovation gets finished at our cottage. Im going to visit a studio in a day or so, Collideascope studios down here in Halifax, suposedly there are some Sheridan 3rd years there. Say hi to me if you somehow see this blog, and then see me in the hallways...I'll show off my sktechbook and probably some print outs of work I've posted on the blog.

Here's a recent one, entirely digitally done. I dunno who it is. Ghengis Khan maybe?
